The article presents the results of a study of the phenomenon of induced evaluativeness as a reflex of contextually determined evaluative transformations of originally non-evaluative words in their speech realization. The positive-evaluative and negative-evaluative potential of the adjectival lexeme “narodny” (“folk”) in the language of modern Russian Internet media is discussed. The analysis is carried out on a representative block of corpus data using a method for identifying semantic auras (semantic prosody) of the analyzed word in its nearest contextual environment in texts.
