Verbs functioning in M.M. Prishvinʼs stories are considered from the
viewpoint of belonging to lexical and semantic groups. The classes of the most frequent
verbs are distinguished, an interpretation of their predominance in the texts of the writer
is proposed. A large amount of language material is used as examples.
