THE ELEMENT OF FOLK SPEECH IN THE STORY OF I.S. SHMELEV “THE SUMMER OF THE LORD”

Abstract

The peculiarities of the tale manner in the story “The Summer of the Lord” by I.S. Shmelev, which reveal themselves as relying on oral and socially definite speech, are examined in the article. The features of popular language which are manifested in the tale narration at all levels of language – in phonetics, lexis, word formation, morphology – are the object of analysis in the article. The study of the language of the story is carried out from the practical viewpoint of a Russian language teacher.
