The article contains the memories of Fedor Mikhailovich Berezin (1930–2003), who was the first Head of the Department of Linguistics, Institute of Information for Social Sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences (INION RAN). The article is written by F.M. Berezin’s student – S.A. Romashko, Candidate of Philology, a translator and member of Literary Translator’s Guild. S.A. Romashko was Head of the Department of Linguistics in 2003 through 2013.
